I woke up to the alarm on my phone in front of me on my nightstand as I’m laying on my right side. My phone is at 16%. I forgot to charge it. I press the red button on my phone to stop the alarm. A whimsical alarm for a special day.
As a gleeful smile spreads across my face, I turn over to my left side to say, “Happy anniversary, bab-eh?” Our bed is empty except for me. “Baby?” I sit up and my eyes scan our room. “Where are you?”
I then thought, (Oh! It must be a surprise.)
Opening the drawer to my nightstand to grab my charger, but it isn't there. I roll over to the other side of the bed to check the nightstand on that side. I grabbed hold of the pistol and moved it out of the way to grab the charger. Good thing there’s a spare. My phone is now charging.
With the smile still spread across my face, I happily slid out of bed. With my shirt still on and pants off, I walk down the stairs to the kitchen.
“HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!”
“WAH!” I was caught off guard. “Baby?” (I was right.)
My baby did surprise me. Waffles stacked up like a tasty tower. Syrup drips down like a waterfall off of them. Perfectly made eggs, sunny side up. And that smell of steak, so divine. I didn’t know my baby could cook so well.
“All of this for me?”
“Of course, hon.”
“How much was this?”
“Don’t worry about it. We can get money later.” My baby grabs a pair of utensils and slides them over to where my seat is. “I’m hungry, and I’m guessing you are too. Let’s dig in.”
We had finished eating. “My god…” I rub my belly in pleasure. “That was the best meal I've had. I don’t think I need to eat the rest of the day.”
“You sure, hon?” My baby looks like a puppy with those big, sad eyes when you tell it no. With the tilted head and everything. “You sure you don’t have any room for…” A devious smile appeared immediately over the sad puppy dog look. “...dessert?”
“But I’m too stuffed.” It took me a second to realize, “OH! You meant…”
“Yeah. Heh heh.”
“Now?”
“Yes. Now.”
“But I still have my surprise that I want to show you.”
“What is it?”
“We’re going to have to drive there.”
“Ok.” My tosses me the car keys. “If you want to go now, let’s do it.”
“Alright.” I stand up, feeling a few pounds heavier. But regardless, I walk over to the front door.
My baby snickers, “Hey, hon.”
“Yeah?”
“Aren’t you forgetting something?”
I opened the door and realized what I forgot. I looked down at my bare legs. I blush and turn my head to look my partner in the eyes.
“My pants?”
“And where are your pants?” Baby asks as the devious smile grows more.
“U-upstairs.” I stuttered as I started to feel hot.
“You know what else is upstairs?”
We lock in and wrap each other up in a warm, comforting hug. I answer, “The bed.” I also shoot a devious look at my partner.
We both lovingly pushed each other up the stairs and lovingly had the best time with each other.
“What an amazing day!” I happily yell as I snuggle with my partner.
“Yeah, hon. And don’t worry, we’re going to have plenty more.”
“If this is how we spent our first anniversary, I can’t wait for next year.”
“Neither can I.”
I look at my phone. “Oh no. I might be late to work tomorrow.” I plug in my charger and hand my partner their charger. “Here you go.”
“Thank you.” My partner opens their drawer of the nightstand. Moving the pistol out of the way to place the charger in there. “And thanks again for the car. Good night, hon.”
“Good night, baby.”
We both kiss each other passionately one last time today. We then fall into a deep sleep. Well… after I did one last thing for my partner. Heh heh.
I woke up to the alarm on my phone in front of me on my nightstand as I’m laying on my right side. My phone is at 16%. I forgot to charge it again. I press the red button on my phone to stop the alarm. A whimsical alarm for another special day.
As a gleeful smile spreads across my face, I turn over to my left side to say, “Happy anniversary, bab-eh?” Our bed is empty except for me.
I thought, (Oh! It must be another big breakfast.)
As I slid out of bed to stretch out my back, “Ow!” I audibly yelled. My neck is so stiff. Almost feels broken. I can barely move it. I rub my neck in an attempt to warm it up. I then grab my head and slowly twist it to the right. *Cccccccccccccrack* “Oh damn!” And then to the left. *Cccccccccccccrack* “Oh… wow. That hurt.”
After breaking my neck, I pulled the charger out of my partner’s nightstand. With my phone now charging, I walk down the stairs to an empty kitchen.
“Baby? Are you here?” My smile morphs into a worried frown. “Hello?”
*Knock* *Knock*
(A knock at the front door? Who can that be?)
I approach the door and look through the peephole. I gasp in shock. All I saw was the inside of the barrel of a pistol.

I woke up to not my whimsical alarm for another special day, but to my partner weeping. I turn onto my left side to comfort my partner. My partner is laying on the right side, back towards me.
“It’s my fault. It’s all my fault.”
I scooch over and embrace my crying baby in a warm hug. “It’s not your fault. It was never your fault.”
“I-I can’t…”
“You can. You will. I still love you.”
“I’m sorry.”
My partner lunges towards the nightstand. I let go from the sudden movement. My partner rips open the nightstand’s drawer and pulls out the pistol.
I jump towards my partner with my hand outstretched to grab the pistol. I yell out a desperate, “NO!”
